DAY 8 – THE GIVER
Let me start by saying that I love the book by Lois Lowry that this film is adapted from. My choice for G is THE GIVER (2014). The dystopian/anti-utopian fiction genre is my favorite when it comes to film, literature, or even comic books. Although this film was made to appeal to a PG-13 audience, today’s youth aren’t really interested in this sort of thought-provoking material unless it is done up with grandeur and has a good-looking protagonist sporting mad archery skills. Although this cast was pretty, this film is somewhat headier and darker than other more popular future-gone-wrong fare. Overall, I didn’t dislike the movie and I tend to grant a lot of leeway for adapting books into film as the nature of the two mediums are so drastically different. It’s worth a watch…

Glad to hear that it is as good as the trailer made it out to be! It was already on my list of must see movies, but I guess it needs to be a bit closer to the top.
